we've got the track, coaches and riders but we still need Marshals and a few helpers to make the Trackday happen.
Marshals & Volunteers will get lunch, drinks, snacks, sunscreen during the day. We've also booked some beds in the bunkhouse rather than camping. And I'll see if I can persuade the Treasurer to shout you a few after trackday refreshments.
If you are an MWA accredited official, you can record your Marshaling/Official duties for the day in your logbook.
You can register as a Marshal by sending a PM to me via the forum.
DOCWA Members can do a half day riding and half day marshalling -you will pay $100 for a 1/2 day on the track. When you do your on line registration put marshal and am or pm in the comments box.
In order to get the bikes on the track we must have the following roles filled:
Flag Marshal - 3 (minimum)
responsibilities - occupy a sheltered flag point on the track and observe riders, report incidents to Clerk of Course and hold out different flags as directed by Clerk of Course. You will have a 2way radio, and you will be shown how to use this if you've not ever used one before.
ideally 5 but we can get by with 3. (if we get more than 5 volunteers it means people only do half a day.
Grid Marshal - 1 (minimum)
responsibilities - checking riders on dummy grid are in correct group session, holding each group at the dummy grid and letting them out on track when directed by Clerk of Course, check stragglers safely enter track, hold out chequered flag to signal end of session. You'll have a 2way and also noise cancelling headset. It helps if you are really good at time management for this job.
Scrutineer - 2 maximum
Check bikes, riding gear and licences, as directed by Chief Scrutineer and Clerk of Course. Complete scrutineering check lists and issue passed stickers. You will need to be available Friday evening and from 6am Saturday morning. You will be able to ride if you choose to be scrutineer, as your duties will end approx 7.30pm.
Other roles available which if filled will make life easier for the Trackday Organisers
Recovery Crew
sit in a vehicle fitted out for carrying bikes on the dummy grid in order to be available to collect any bike that decides to have a little lie down on the track, sweep up any debris left on track.
this is a nice to have...and hopefully your services will not be required
If you have a ute or bike trailer this is an added bonus/
Scribes
assist Treasurer, Clerk of Course and Trackday Coordinator including issuing paper day licences, supervising rider & volunteer sign on, issue gear to officials/marshals/coaches.
