Pedrosa's problems at Misano
The Blame Game... was it Abraham?? Race Direction?? Barbera??
If anyone should get the blame for any single thing that happened it should fall to Dani Pedrosa's team manager. Everything that occurred, was to the letter of the rule book.
It's the team manager's responsibility to inform his rider of the rule being applied and keep him calm. Dani had problems on his warm up because one of his mechanics switched the pit lane rev limiter on. Dani didn't figure it out until he was halfway around the track.
If he was confused about anything, that falls to his team manager for not knowing the rules. The mechanic did his job. He prepared the bike for a pit lane exit. Instead, the bike was put back on the grid in the pole position for the start. Against the rules. All blame falls within HRC.

Island feat 'may be step too far' for Stoner
'I think it's going to be tough to make it six in a row, but we'll definitely be there, even if they have to duck-tape me to the bike' - Casey Stoner
MotoGP superstar Casey Stoner has talked down his chances of a six-in-a-row coup at his home round at Phillip Island in Australia next month.
The Repsol Honda rider, recuperating following an operation on his right ankle, revealed he hopes to be back on the factory RC213V at Motegi in Japan on October 14 before competing at Sepang in Malaysia (October 21) prior to the Australian MotoGP at the end of October.
Stoner, who suffered the injury following a crash at Indianapolis last month, would love to bring the curtain down on his short but illustrious career with a sixth successive triumph at Phillip Island before retiring at the end of the season.
However, the 26-year-old-old feels the fairy tale ending his fans crave could be beyond even his reach at the penultimate round of the championship on October 28.
“I think it's going to be tough to make it six in a row, but we'll definitely be there, even if they have to duck-tape me to the bike,” Stoner told Australian TV broadcaster Channel Seven.
“I'll definitely be lining up for that one. I'm hoping to get back for a couple before that, but we'll se how things go and cross the fingers we can be back there.”
Stoner also revealed that he is seeking a switch to the V8 Supercar Championship, enthusiastically declaring his ambition to try his hand at car racing.
“I'm hoping to; it's been a long time dream of mine,” was Stoner's response after he was asked if he would contest the series in the near future.
“Just recently I've shown more interest. It's been around since I've been 12 or 14 years old. I've had a huge passion for V8s.
“I have to be realistic whether I'll be quick enough or not to be competitive, but it's something I'd like to give a go, and I'll definitely be around the paddock.”
On his shock decision to leave MotoGP at the conclusion of the 2012 championship in November, Stoner reiterated his position that his passion for motorcycling is on the wane.
“It's disappointing for me as well. We've put so many years of hard work in to get there, but for me it was the right time to leave,” he added.
“I'm losing a lot of passion for the sport at the moment, so for me it was important to get out while I still enjoy motorcycling and racing in general.”
Stoner was replaced in the Repsol Honda team by Northern Irishman Jonathan Rea for last Sunday's round at Misano, with Rea also set to contest the next round at Aragon at the end of September before Stoner's return from injury.

Texas confirmed for MotoGP 2013
"We see tremendous opportunities to market MotoGP and grow its fan-base through this agreement and know Circuit of The Americas is the right promoter to help us achieve that goal" - Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna.
By Stephen English
A third American race has been officially confirmed for MotoGP in 2013 with the brand new Circuit of the Americas hosting the series on April 21.
The track, located in Austin, Texas, will join Laguna Seca and Indianapolis on the MotoGP calendar as the sport's American footprint continues to grow.
Although a contract had previously been announced, Austin - like Argentina - was not named on the provisional 2013 calendar. However a new deal with the Texan circuit has now been concluded.
America will again have three riders on the grid next season with Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards and Ben Spies all confirmed.
"We are excited to be working with Circuit of The Americas to expand our programming in the United States and bring our series to an exceptional new Grand Prix facility in Texas,” commented Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“We see tremendous opportunities to market MotoGP and grow its fan-base through this agreement and know Circuit of The Americas is the right promoter to help us achieve that goal."
The Circuit of the Americas will host the penultimate round of this year's Formula 1 championship and circuit president, Steve Sexton, is pleased to join a select group of tracks that host both F1 and MotoGP races.
"The Circuit of The Americas team is delighted to introduce yet another world-renowned racing series to our 2013 event calendar,” said Sexton. ”We know will be hugely popular with fans coming to experience MotoGP for the first time at our state-of-the-art sports and entertainment complex in Austin.
“MotoGP has a worldwide fan base with more than two million fans watching races in person each year. We're confident it will be a great addition to our programming and draw tens of thousands of people to Central Texas, creating yet another major event with significant economic impact for our region."
1993 world champion Kevin Schwantz, involved in the original Austin deal, is in a dispute with COTA over promotion of the MotoGP event.

Stoner confirms Motegi comeback
'I feel I can race in Motegi and will be re-joining my team next week and I can't wait to get back on track' - Casey Stoner
Reigning MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has confirmed his return from injury at next weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi.
The Australian star revealed the news on his blog for Repsol.com.
Stoner, who will retire from motorcycling racing's top tier championship at the end of this season, wrote: “It's been another quiet week here in Australia, I've been resting, having some physio and following doctor's orders to recover.
“The good news is that I feel I can race in Motegi and will be re-joining my team next week and I can't wait to get back on track.
“Thanks for all the kind messages on this blog, I look forward to return in Motegi in front of all the Honda home fans.”
The Repsol Honda rider has been replaced by Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea at the previous two rounds of the championship at Misano and Aragon.
He sustained a badly damaged right ankle following a high-side at Indianapolis and following surgery has been recuperating at home in Australia.
Stoner's chance of ending his final season in the sport by retaining the world crown has ended, but the 26-year-old will be gunning for more success at the final four rounds to end his career on a high.
Currently third in the championship table and 104 points behind Jorge Lorenzo with only 100 points in total up for grabs before the end of the campaign, Stoner could play a role in helping team-mate Dani Pedrosa challenge for the title.
Pedrosa is 33 points behind Lorenzo and closed the gap slightly following his victory at Aragon last weekend.
For Stoner, victory at his home round at Phillip Island on October 28 will be a top priority as he bids for an incredible sixth win on the trot in the Australian Grand Prix.

MotoGP announces knockout style qualifying
MotoGP will follow the lead of F1 and WSBK by introducing its own version of a knockout style qualifying system for the 2013 season.
But unlike F1 and WSBK, MotoGP will take into account free practice performance, with the top ten riders moving straight through to the second and final part of qualifying, when the top twelve grid places will be decided.
All those outside the top ten after third free practice will take place in the first part of qualifying, with the fastest two riders then advancing to QP2.
The two parts of qualifying will be just 15 minutes long, with a new (fourth) free practice session of 30 minutes added just before qualifying.
The main beneficiaries of the new system will be the privateer CRT riders, who will be the main focus of QP1 and thus get extra TV airtime for their sponsors, while the leading riders will have more track space in QP2.
MotoGP qualifying presently takes place during a single one hour session.
The full explanation of the new system, as provided by the FIM, is as follows:
New Qualifying Procedure
'1. The three existing sessions of free practice will be unchanged, however, the combined times from those sessions will determine participation in the final qualifying practice.
'2. The ten fastest riders will be seeded through to Qualifying Practice 2 (QP2).
'3. All other riders will take part in Qualifying Practice 1 (QP1).
'4. The fastest two riders in QP1 will progress to QP2, making a total of 12 riders competing for the first 12 grid positions.
'5. The riders not in the fastest two places in QP1 will take grid positions 13 and above according to their times in QP1.'
New Practice and Qualifying Schedule Day One: Free Practice 1 45 Minutes (Unchanged) Timed for Qualifying Participation Free Practice 2 45 Minutes (Unchanged) Timed for Qualifying Participation Day Two: Free Practice 3 45 Minutes (Unchanged) Timed for Qualifying Participation Free Practice 4 30 Minutes (New) Not Timed for Qualifying Participation Break 10 Minutes Qualifying Practice 1 15 minutes (New) Break 10 Minutes Qualifying Practice 2 15 minutes (New)

Rain king Anthony West showed his fantastic skills on the wet Sepang circuit when he stormed to second place at the Malaysian Moto2 Grand Prix last Sunday, awarding his QMMF Racing Team with its best ever Grand Prix result.
The 31-year-old Australian started from 19th position on the grid and hunted down no less than ten other riders on the opening lap to break into the top ten. He continued with the same incredible place and moved up to sixth after lap two and fourth after lap three. An exciting battle with Italian Alex de Angelis, Briton Gino Rea and local hero Hafizh Syahrin unfolded that made the crowd cheer whenever the front group of four passed the grandstands. Two laps before the red flag halted the race, West left Rea and Syahrin behind to take the second spot on the podium behind race winner de Angelis.
Anthony West
“It’s a long time since I had a result like this and I’m very happy about my comeback on a Grand Prix podium. The last two years have been really difficult for me and at times, my confidence wasn’t great. But in the last two races, I started to feel really good with the Speed Up bike. This race now is the next push for me to finish the season strong. The race was crazy. On the first laps, I seemed to pass lots of people quite easily. Finally, I caught up with Gino and Alex. They were setting a good pace and I was quite happy just to stay behind them. It was difficult, because sometimes they did really good laps and other times, they were sliding around, so I decided to sit there and watch. The conditions were changing constantly; sometimes you could brake hard and other times the track was too slick to do anything. Towards the end, the rain was out of control and I didn’t think I was going to complete too many more laps. To see the red flags come out was a big relief!”

Red Bull Rookies for 2013
by Peter Clifford, Oct 11, 2012
Three intense days of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Selection Event at Monteblanco in Spain resulted in 12 young riders being invited to join the Cup for 2013. Of the 106 riders who were invited to the Selection Event from the online applicants it came down to 49 who took part on the final day on Thursday.
Just as on the previous days the riders were split into 7 groups. The final day employed a longer circuit and had 15 minute sessions in the morning with the afternoon sessions extended to 20 minutes.
The Selection Committee, comprising Gust Auinger, Harald Bartol, Peter Clifford and Daniel Ribalta, then deliberated and produced the following list:-
Riders invited to join the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup
Anthony Alonso, United States Enea Bastianini, Italy Darryn Binder, South Africa Aris Michail, Germany Soushi Mihara, Japan Joan Mir, Spain Felix Nässi, Finland Manuel Pagliani, Italy Corentin Perolari, France Toprak Razgatlioglu, Turkey Olly Simpson, Australia Mario Tocca, Italy
ps. Great concept whereby 12 guys from the previous year move on and 12 stay so each kid is "guaranteed" 2 years in the series

SPEED talks to Kris McLaren about his last-minute call-up to ride in the AirAsia Australian MotoGP
By William Dale SPEED October 25, 2012 11:23AM
SPEED talked exclusively to Australian motorcycle racer Kris McLaren on Thursday, after it was announced he would be on the grid for this weekend's AirAsia Australian MotoGP.
The 26-year-old is set to replace Yonny Hernandez on the Avintia Blusens CRT bike, after the Columbian rider dislocated his collarbone at the Japanese MotoGP earlier this month.
We talked to him the day before his first ride on the bike in MotoGP first practice at Phillip Island.
SPEED: How did the whole ride come together? McLaren: I got the call-up on Tuesday night at about 11pm, so it was a late call-up, that's for certain! I got another call on Wednesday morning at about nine o'clock to tell me that I had to be at the track at two o'clock to have a meeting with the boys. We went for a meeting at the race track and they explained everything they want from me.
It all happened very fast. I didn't think I was going to be riding a bike this weekend at all at the grand prix, so to have the opportunity that's come about in the last couple of days is incredible.
Are you looking forward to having your first ride on a CRT bike? Yes, I am very much looking forward to having my first ride on the CRT bike. The team has worked very hard this year developing the bike as much as they can. It's going to be an interesting first ride, that's for certain. I've never ridden anything with so much power, but I'll try and ride the bike to the best of my ability and give them the feedback to develop the bike further.
How much experience do you have racing at Phillip Island? I've done a fair few laps of Phillip Island and a fair bit of experience on a 1000cc motorcycle, but not to the calibre of these bikes. They have a whole bunch more horsepower than any bike I've ever ridden around here.
Has the team been able to sit down with you and talk you through the difference between the Moto2 bike you're familiar with and the MotoGP CRT bike? We haven't sat down yet, we'll be doing that today [Thursday]. We will have a chat about that and run through the electronics and everything they've got going on this bike, which is a lot. There's a lot going on in the cockpit of this motorcycle.
Was making the step up to MotoGP from your current Spanish Moto2 ride your plan eventually? For certain, I would loved to have ridden in MotoGP my whole life, that's the epitome for any motorcycle racer. So to get this opportunity, I'm just so grateful to the team. It's fantastic.
What are your goals for the weekend? Just to provide these people with as much information as I can and ride the motorcycle to the best of my ability, and I hope that we'll come away with a good result and the team will be happy about the way we go about it.
While it is very much a one-off ride with Avintia Blusens this weekend, are you hoping that the ride acts as a springboard to more opportunities in the future? That'd be fantastic. There is no expectation in that regard, it's an amazing opportunity. Currently there's nothing for next year. I have no ride next year, we've been struggling a lot for money. It's a difficult sport to be racing when you're funding it yourself. I'm pretty much looking to take it one step at a time and see how it goes.
Are you looking forward to racing in front of a massive home crowd in the same race that will be Casey Stoner's last on home soil? Yeah! It'll be an amazing experience to ride in front of all the people that are going to be there at the event. Last year I did ride Moto2 as a wildcard in the world championship round there at Phillip Island, but this year obviously to line up on the same grid as Casey Stoner is incredible.
I won't be really thinking about the crowd that much - I'll just be looking to do whatever I can on the motorcycle - but it's going to be a great experience to see all the people cheering Casey on.

Anthony West fails anti-doping test
"...In addition, the CDI imposes on the rider a sanction of one month's period of ineligibility to compete in any meeting authorised or organised by the FIM"
Anthony West looks set to miss the forthcoming Valencia Moto2 season finale after being handed a one-month ban following the results of an anti-doping test at Le Mans in May.
A prohibited stimulant, Methylhexaneamine, was found during the analysis.
According to Wikipedia, Methylhexaneamine was originally intended as a nasal decongestant and "has been marketed as a dietary supplement in combination with caffeine and other ingredients, under trade names such as Geranamine and Floradrene, to be used as an over-the-counter thermogenic or general-purpose stimulant."
While West has also been disqualified from his seventh place finish at the French Grand Prix, his runner-up results at the last two rounds do not appear to be in jeopardy.
"Following FIM anti-doping controls carried out during the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix meeting held in Le Mans (FRA), one of the samples was found not in accordance with the FIM Anti-Doping Code," said the FIM statement.
"The sample of Australian Moto2 class rider Anthony West contained Methylhexaneamine, a substance included in 'S.6b Specified Stimulants' prohibited in competition, and thereby infringed Art 2.1 of the 2012 FIM Anti-Doping Code.
"Following the hearing of the rider, the CDI decided to disqualify Anthony West from the French round of the 2012 FIM Moto2 World Championship, held on 20 May in Le Mans.
"In addition, the CDI imposes on the rider a sanction of one month's period of ineligibility to compete in any meeting authorised or organised by the FIM or any FIM-affiliated federation or body or in any competitions authorised or organised by any international or national level meeting organisation, from 30 October 2012.
"An appeal may be lodged with the International Tribunal of Appeal (TIA) within 5 day as from the notification of the decision."
West's case revives memories of Noriyuki Haga's positive test for ephedrine early in the 2000 World Superbike season, caused by a dietary supplement Haga had used over the winter.
